It was agreed that the following information would be communicated to parents/guardians and staff the Board of Management meeting on the 1st October 2013.

The Board of Management would like to extend sympathy to Ms. Shaw on the death of her father in August. Board members also wish to extend their sympathies to Barry Kelly, his family and the staff of St. Mary’s Primary school on the death of Catherine Kelly who passed away in September.

The Board would like to very sincerely welcome the first boys who have enrolled in mainstream classes in our school this year.

The Board discussed the School Self Evaluation (SSE) Report presented by M. Tunney. This will be published on the school website before the end of October. The report includes the school’s on-going action plan for literacy.

The school’s income has decreased dramatically due to government cuts to school grants. We receive €20,000 less per year now from the Department of Education and Skills (DES) than we did in 2010.

The Board of Management agreed that it is imperative that the Presentation Junior and Senior Schools continue to strengthen collaborative links in order to ensure that a seamless school experience is provided for both boys and girls from junior infants to sixth class. The Board agreed that the transfer of students from Presentation Junior to Presentation Senior should be automatic. Children, therefore, who are in second class in the Junior School will be automatically enrolled in the Senior school without having to complete an application process. Parents/guardians will still be given an opportunity to view the school and meet with the staff during the enrolment week in January.

Funding has been sanctioned by the Department of Education and Skills (DES) for extensive renovations to our toileting facilities to accommodate the increased number of boys expected to enrol from the Junior School next September.
